Weather & Air Quality Closures

Keeping our community healthy & safe

In order to keep our visitors and staff healthy and safe the Garden will close according to the below guidelines
Air Quality: The Garden will close on days when the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to be 150 or over.
High Winds: Due to safety concerns with falling tree debris, the Garden may close and/or programs may be canceled or modified if wind gusts of more than 25 MPH are predicted.
Snow & Ice: Garden pathways and stairs can be hazardous in icy weather. The Garden will close if deemed unsafe for staff and visitors.
Excessive Heat: The Garden will close at 2 pm on days when the temperature is expected to reach 100 + degrees. Programs may be canceled or modified if temperatures reach 90+ degrees.

Thunder and Lightning: Thunder and lightning is very rare in the Garden. If thunderstorms have been forecast to occur program cancellations may occur and the Garden may close. If thunder and lightning occurs unexpectedly during a program, group leaders will guide participants to safety.

Event Cancellations: If a program is cancelled Garden staff will contact ticket holders and arrange for a refund or reschedule.
