May 31st: Owl Pellet Investigation
When owls hunt, they swallow their prey whole! That means they ingest feathers, bones, claws, and many other things they are unable to disgust. As a result, a few hours after eating, they cough up what is called an owl pellet. It’s a small pellet made of anything the owl ate that it can’t digest. Come join us in examining owl pellets to see what interesting bones, teeth, and feathers can be found.
