Lilla Lit Winter Solstice Celebration

December 19,  4-7pm

Event Description: 



Join us December 19th to celebrate the return of the sun and mark the passage of the seasons. Start the night off with a self guided night walk through the garden with special lighting and live music by Marilee Horde. Then gather near the Aerial Treewalk and Fireplace Terrace with a hot beverage and enjoy readings provided by Lilla Lit, a literary reading group. Books are available for purchase and our nonprofit Gift Shop will be open until 7pm.

– Doors open at 4 pm; Readings begin at 4:30 pm.

– This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather.

– Ticket price: $20.  See below for sliding scale options. 

Lilla Lit in partnership with Leach Botanical Garden is committed to making this event affordable for all. If you choose the free option please consider adding a smaller donation at the door. If you are part of the Arts for All Program, buy your $5 ticket at the door. 

Tickets are non-refundable even if the event is canceled due to inclement weather. All proceeds benefit Leach Garden Friends, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

In an effort to keep our audience members, artists, volunteers, and staff members safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, Leach Garden Friends will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative test result for entry into our in-person events.  Masks will also be required in both indoor and outdoor public settings.


Lilla Lit is 

quarterly literary reading series at SE Portland’s Leach Botanical Garden featuring poetry, fiction, and nonfiction on the evening’s theme. They work to create and deepen literary community in Portland, and to enhance the cultural life of SE Portland.
