iNaturalist and City Nature Challenge Observations
Contribute to science anywhere!
iNaturalist and CNC Observations
May 2— 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Using iNaturalist is easy and fun! You don’t have to be a scientist. All you need is a smart phone and your own curiosity. We’ll teach you how to make and upload observations onto the App – and hey do the identifications! Once you’re comfortable using it, we’ll explore the garden, snapping photos of plants and wildlife and adding them to this global biodiversity database. From now on, you’ll be able to contribute to science anywhere – on a hike, in your yard, even in your own home!
Enrollment is limited to 15 people.
Free, requires advance registration and check-in upon arrival.
Masks and physical distancing are mandatory.
Garden paths are dirt/gravel and include some stairs and slopes.
Walk offered rain or shine. Be prepared for whatever the weather brings!
About City Nature Challenge:
The City Nature Challenge started in 2016 as a friendly competition between naturalists in Los Angeles and San Francisco to see which city could collect the most wild species observations in a short period of time. More than 1000 people participated, collecting over 20,000 observations. The idea grew, and in 2020, 244 cities across the globe participated–collecting 815,258 observations. This year, our goal is for people around the world to work together to top 2020!
