Programs For Youth

We provide nature experiences for children visiting the Garden with programs geared towards preschool through high school ages. Our children’s educational program provides hands-on learning opportunities through participatory activities, summer day camp or individual art classes. Currently we offer the following educational opportunities:

  • Honeybee Hike
  • Art Classes
  • Summer Day Camp – canceled for 2020
  • Children’s Nature Fair will begin again in 2021

Please see our calendar for all current children’s education classes being offered or sign-up for email updates.

Honeybee Hike is currently on pause through June due to covid-19. Please check back for updates.

Every Wednesday, 10:00—11:00am (March through November) for children ages 2-5 years, $3.00 per child. Leaders take small groups along garden trails encouraging children to smell flowers, touch leaves, look for insects, and to investigate nature through their senses. They also make a craft project and listen to a story. We can do special Honeybee Hikes by request, subject to availability.

Reservations required for groups of 10+ children and adults. Please submit a completed Reservation Form – located below.

Any group larger than 10 must contact our admissions staff at least 5 days in advance. We are assessing reservations on a case by case basis. Please email info@leachgarden.org or call 503-208-6030. You may be turned away if you don't contact us beforehand.

Registration

Advance registration is required for all workshops, classes and events here at the garden. Many activities have limited seating/attendance and are first come, first serve.

ADMISSION

Admission during regular Garden hours is waived  until spring 2022 during this introductory period in celebration of the Upper Garden development project.

Garden capacity is currently limited due to parking and state guidelines. To ensure that you are able to visit at the time you wish, click here to reserve your free timed entry ticket below.

All guests must check in at our admissions booth upon arrival. Timed tickets are for time entry only; once here, feel free to enjoy the garden at your leisure.

If you arrive prior to or after your ticket entry time, you will be able to enter the Garden as capacity permits.

Donations are appreciated. Contributions support the operation of the Garden and our ability to offer programs and education.

Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and feel free to bring a water bottle.

COVID-19 SAFETY

  • In accordance with Oregon State guidelines face masks are required in the garden (indoor and outdoor) regardless of vaccination status, effective Friday 8/27/2021. Please maintain (6ft) social distance between parties during your visit.

If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed in the past 14 days, please postpone your visit to the garden.

ENJOYING THE GARDEN

Hate has no place here.

The Garden is a smoke-free and vape-free facility under PP&R rules.

No dogs in the garden. Service animals are allowed, but pets and emotional support animals are not permitted.

Stay on the pathways. Walking in the planted areas can damage plant collection specimens.

No picnicking inside the garden.

No bicycles or similar vehicles on trails or paths.

Do not pick flowers or seeds-they are part of our collection.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Visitors are welcome to take pictures of the garden for personal use. However, garden etiquette requires respect for the ability of other visitors to enjoy the garden as well as respect for the grounds themselves.

Contact us by email at info@leachgarden.org or by calling 503-208-6030. For more information, go to  our rentals page.
